Do I Have That Book Challenge?

Updated: Feb 14, 2020

Yayyy! Another Booktube Tag/Challenge in Blog form! This tag, the Do I Have That Book Challenge, was started by Booktuber, Keeping Tabs, I'll link her video here. Basically there's a list of questions and the goal is to see how many questions you have books for. Let me know in the comments how many questions you have books for!!!

1. Do you have a book with deckled edges?

I, in fact, do have a book with deckled edges. The first one that comes to mind is my Hard Cover edition of Restore Me by Tahereh Mafi. Lots of people either love or hate deckled edges, it's when the edges of the paper are a little rough and jagged, sometimes to make the book look older. Personally, I can take em or leave em.

2. Do you have a book with 3 or more people on the cover?

This one I had to really go looking for and the first one I found on my shelf was The Saturday Evening Girls Club by Jane Healey. This is a Historical Fiction novel that I haven't read yet but I'm looking forward to! It looks like the three main characters are on the cover!

3. Do you have a book based on another fictional story?

I indeed have many! The first one I spotted on my shelf was My Plain Jane by Cynthia Hand, Jodi Meadows, and Brodi Ashton. This is a retelling of Jane Eyre by Charlotte Brontë. It's actually the second of three (the third one is yet to be released) companion novels by these authors, all with alternative versions of Jane Eyre, they can be read in any order!

4. Do you have a book with a title ten letters long?

What a frustrating question. After going through three of my bookshelves, I came across Splintered by A.G. Howard, based on Alice in Wonderland, which does happen to be ten letters long exactly, thank God.

5. Do you have a book where the title starts and ends in the same letter?

I was honestly ready to take the L on this question, but thank God for The Last of August by Brittany Cavallaro. It starts and ends in T! This is the second book to the Charlotte Holmes series. I loved the first one and can't wait to pick this one up!

6. Do you have a mass market paperback book?

Normally the answer would be NO. I just hate mass market paperbacks. For those who don't know they are smaller than the size of average paperbacks and are normally the really cheap books by the cash register in your supermarket. Somehow, I have Caraval by Stephanie Garber in mass market paperback and I have no idea how. (I actually just ordered it in hardcover because it's bothering me.)

This is NOT the standard US edition's cover, this is the cover that is one the mass market paperback so I decided to use this picture

7. Do you have a book written by an author using a pen name?

YUP. For anyone who doesn't know, Cassandra Clare is a pen name! Her real name is actually Judith Lewis and I have many books, for example, Lady Midnight, by Cassandra Clare, so these are all written by an author using a pen name.

8. Do you have a book with the character's name in the title?

To make this a little challenging I won't use any of the Harry Potters. Instead I'll go with Cress by Marissa Meyer. Yes, the main Lunar Chronicle books are all named after it's respective main character. (Cinder, Scarlet, Cress, and Winter).

9. Do you have a book with two maps inside?

This is honestly so rare because we're lucky to get one map in a book. Luckily Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo did not disappoint and does have two maps inside before you get to the actual story!

10. Do you have a book that was turned into a TV Show?

For the sake of not using too many Cassandra Clare books for this challenge, I remembered that Delirium by Lauren Oliver was actually turned into a TV Pilot that pretty much failed but it was filmed and released! Emma Roberts actually played the main character. (To be honest, I didn't actually like this first book so I never continued the series.)

11. Do you have a book by an author who was originally famous for doing something else?

I have a few! One of those is the non fiction book, Brunette Ambition by Lea Michele, who is actually a singer and actress.

12. Do you have a book with a clock on the cover?

Yes, I forgot about this one, but the absolutely stunning cover of Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern which I do have, does have a (small) clock on it!

13. Do you have a poetry book? SHOCKINGLY, YES. I have Adultolescence by Gabbie Hanna! I actually got it when I went to meet her at Strand in Manhattan, and she's so nice! This cover actually comes in three different colors, with the standard one being blue!

14. Do you have a book with an award stamp on it?

Okay, so you guys are so not going to believe this. But... I genuinely couldn't find a book on my shelf with an award stamp on it! What the actual heck. Honestly, I think it's because most of my highly anticipated releases, I order when they are first released, so they don't have a chance to actually win awards yet.

15. Do you have a book written by an author with the same initials as you? This one makes me happy. It's so crazy specific that most people have lost to this question, but lucky for me, my initials are A.S and I have several books written by one particular author with my initials. For this one I am going with History Is All You Left Me by Adam Silvera. (A.S!!!)

16. Do you have a book of short stories?

Yep, for this one, I pulled out Four by Veronica Roth. It's in the Divergent series and is a book of short stories that all focus on the character, Four (or Tobias) in the series. I actually used to really love the Divergent series but honestly I think if I re-read the series I wouldn't really like it that much.

17. Do you have a book between 500 and 510 pages? Not one page more, not one page less.

This question destroyed me. I went through so many books to find one that was not under 500 pages or over 510 pages, but I'm using another Cassie Clare book. Clockwork Prince by Cassandra Clare is exactly 502 pages long.

18. Do you have a book that was turned into a movie?

But of course! Take your pick, I have many. The first one I grabbed was, Nerve by Jeanne Ryan. This is actually a really interesting story but for once I think I might have actually enjoyed the movie slightly more than the book!

19. Do you have a graphic novel?

I actually... just don't. Yeah, I don't think I have any graphic novels to be honest, but there's a few I want!

20. Do you have a book that was written by two or more authors?

I have a few, but for this one I went with Let it Snow by John Green, Maureen Johnson, and Lauren Myracle. This book features three holiday stories that are all intertwined with one another and are by these three authors.

I hope you enjoyed the Do I Have That Book Challenge! Let me know in the comments what your answers are to some of these questions!
