Chain of Gold Book Tour 2020

(Video included at the end of the article)

It's the most wonderful time of the year! Another Cassie Clare book is out!!! Chain of Gold, the first book in Cassandra Clare's new series, The Last Hours, came out on March 3, 2020. I was so extremely lucky to go to the first signing in the tour in New York City. This means that I actually had the signed book in my hand on it's release date, which is absolutely awesome.

Firstly, about the signing itself...I for one am SO glad that the Barnes and Noble in Union Square changed the way that they do signings. The way that it used to be done was that you would go before the store opened, get your wristband, and come back later that night. Now, it was all done through Eventbrite, which means we got our tickets and just went at the event time. I had plenty of time to grab my Starbucks, so I was happy.

Also, I got to once again meet fellow New Yorker and my favorite BookTuber, EmmmaBooks. She is also a hugeeeee Cassie Clare fan and she's so awesome and sweet to meet. She always takes the time to chat with her subscribers and she has such a positive and upbeat personality, it's hard to not want to have a full conversation with her, so I just had to give Emma a quick shoutout!

The event was Cassandra Clare in conversation with Marie Rutkoski. Marie is another author in the Young Adult genre. Her latest book, The Midnight Lie, also came out on March 3, 2020. As always, Cassie is absolutely hysterical and so personable. She spent so much time answering everyone's questions during the Q&A and really thought about the answers she was giving.

Chain of Gold is the beginning of Cassie's latest trilogy. Without spoiling anything, this new series follows the children of some of the characters of Cassie's previous series, The Infernal Devices. I'm really excited to get back into the world of the Shadowhunters. One thing that I love is how Cassie's books never get old. There's one character who has been in every single one of her books without fail, which shows how crazy it is that she's able to write so much about one character, yet create so many others.

Me with the Queen of Fantasy herself

After the panel and Q&A, we were fortunate enough to get our books personalized by Cassie. You never feel rushed when you're talking to her. She genuinely wants to talk to and know each and every one of her fans. We actually talked to her about our love of reading and how I've kinda harassed some of my own friends into becoming book nerds themselves and how her books helped me do that. She told us she did the same thing when the Harry Potter books first came out. Also, shoutout to my bestie and parabatai, Alexis, for braving the rain for this event with me!

Check out the video below if you wanna hear the story that inspired the Herondale's phobia of ducks!
