Trident Booksellers and Cafe Review

Updated: Jan 18, 2020

I'm back! With school and work I haven't been able to post like I would have liked to! So sorry!

Back in October, I got to go to Boston and Salem, Massachusetts (for Spooky Szn duh). And of course I couldn't go without doing something bookish while there. I went to Trident Booksellers and Cafe and let me tell you, I'm obsessed.

As you can probably assume, Trident is literally a cafe inside a bookstore, combining many people's love of reading and drinking coffee (and eating of course).

I have one word: Obsessed. Honestly, I really wish that we had something just like this where I live.

When you first enter the store, it looks like a normal bookstore with plenty of shelves of books and stairs on your right leading up to a second floor with more books. However, to the left side, there is a counter with chairs and a kitchen.

When you walk more towards the back, past some of the shelves, there are tables sectioned off as this book store doubles as a restaurant.

There's plenty of options whether you choose to visit for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. There are pancakes, waffles, eggs, salads, sandwiches, chicken, soup, burgers and loads more. If you aren't particularly hungry, there's also plenty of options for coffee, tea, hot chocolate, smoothies, and more. They have a very large extensive, so there's definitely something everyone will like. (Plus the food's actually really good.)

Something else that Trident does that I love is the option to choose a blind date with a book. This is where the employees choose a book that they like, they wrap it, and on the wrapping they will write a short description or draw a picture that hints what the book is about.

You grab one you think you'll like, buy it, and take it home! It's an awesome way to get and read a book that you normally would never think to read. I even got two of them.

It's obviously super important and fun to support your indie bookstores, like these. However, this is honestly a cooler indie bookstore than most.

Whether you're someone who wants to get the popular new releases, celebrity written books, or books from up and coming authors, there's something for you here.

Trident also has plenty of events for readers every single month. I went in October, so as you can see, in the picture above, lots of the events are Halloween themed, like Stranger Things and Harry Potter events. So, it's also a great opportunity to meet up with other bookish people in the area and make new friends.

If you live in or are planning on visiting the Boston area, definitely check out Trident Booksellers & Cafe to get some something to eat, pick up some new reads, and even attend some events! (Information below!)
